The Greenville, SC ensemble is augmented by chorus and soprano soloist for a concert ringing with vocal music, ranging from Poulenc’s reverent Gloria to dramatic masterworks by Verdi. Later in the program there are highlights from a special recital by student musicians at the Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte. The young musicians, who receive instruction from professional musicians in the Charlotte Symphony, perform the world premiere of specially-commissioned work by North Carolina’s own Dan Locklair.
